Oh goodness … I had been wanting to try this place since Becky Higgins, my scrapbook inspiration, posted a photo of the maple bacon donut on social media. I drove to Peoria on a Sunday morning to check it out. (There is a sister location in South Scottsdale — the Local Donut — that has the same flavors.) My very first maple bacon donut was at VooDoo Donuts in Portland, which absolutely rocked my world. This one was also very good, but I’m not sure I would drive to Peoria regularly to get one. Though, imho, Donutsville is way better than the Fractured Prune in Chandler.

Like any realbaker, he is a perfectionist. Go to Donutsville on any given morning and you will see that it is always busy–especially on the weekends. Names like Dunkin Donuts and KrispyKreme cometo mind often when thinking about deliciousdonuts, throw all of that out of the window in this case. Brand name chains are a thing of the past when you walk intoDonutsville, thereis a truesense of familyin this bakery, much pride is taken in the master baker’s work. Go ahead and give the classic glazed donut a shotif you doubt that this place is that good. Classicglazed with the Hawaiian Hazelnut coffee is what you’ll see me leaving with. This is a true up and coming shop that will make waves for many more years.
