I’ve eaten here off and on for years. Tasty, flavorful food. Knowledgable staff. VERY EXPENSIVE.
Overpriced, not all that great.. The service was not good. Had to ask for pepper 4 times before it came, then I was almost done eating. My fish was very dull, and the main taste was salt. The ceviche was quite good, but a very small portion for $21. We won’t be back.
Outstanding. Everything we tried was outstanding, masterfully prepared and delicious. Between us we tried Kampachi, Beef Tenderloin, Pan-Seared Halibut and a side dish of the best lentils I ever had in my life. Food was great service was average.
Typical Cubano fair which I am not much a fan of. Overpriced shrimp cocktails they call ceviche. However, his place is better than your typical Cuban restaurant. Hector cooked us up a nice skirt steak. My halibu was taste. Typical mohido. They need to tighten up their serving staff though. Better than your average restaurant in a hotel fare. Thumbs up.
Service Good, Food Uneven. First the really good points about our experience, our waitress Jinny was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and friendly and the best part of our meal. The back staff was all excellent as well and no complaints on service or atmosphere. The open kitchen is a nice touch. The cold entree (appetizer) was the best part of the meal. We wondered if that was because it didn’t need to be cooked. Our ahi tuna tiradito of king crab with a spicy peppery ponzu sauce and a honey chili flavored ahi tuna was delicious. The warm entree (appetizer) anise scented duck empanadas with mushroom escabeche was delicious but decidedly disappointed me due to the fact that the highly braised and flavored meat while very unctuous hid all traces of duck flavor to the meat. I could have been eating any wild game meat. The fig squares however, were absolutely to die for, if you gave me a bowl of those, yum.My dinner was a chile korobuta tenderloin that had been overcooked, the lovely pork belly that was flavored with apricot and five spice was delicious and the verdura salsa corn empanada supposedly had pork and beans inside but I could not discern anything other than a dense paste that was latin flavored. My husbands dish of kobe skirt steak ordered medium rare came out well (and actually a little burnt) but the purple potato, egg and guacamole ‘huancaina potatoes’ were delicious. The worst part of the meal were the patatas bravas side dish. While well prepped and turned by the commis, they were half cooked, half raw, half sauced, half not. The sauce itself was overly seasoned with the smoked paprika so that it didn’t flavor the potatoes just burned your throat.Normally for a restaurant of this caliber you receive good food. At least it’s not burnt, it’s reasonably edible, and in general there are few complaints. The first two courses of food came out and were cooked well. This was before the head chef came out and started barking at the brigade. After that point our mains came out well… you know how they came out. We skipped dessert and stopped by the pastry cart in the lobby of the hotel to have a cupcake on the way out. For what we spent tonight on the meal we could have eaten at other latin restaurants at least 2x and had better food. So that’s why I’m rating this restaurant a don’t like. For the cost, it’s not worth it.
Simply fabulous!. Incredible food – I really enjoyed watching the chefs at work. The service is helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I tried many items on the menu but the duck empanada was my favorite. You have to try the choc cigar and a raspberry muddle. I can’t wait to go back.
Excellent food mixed with a chic atmosphere made this place a great date venue. We enjoyed the service that was given by the staff and will definitely plan another ‘date night’ here in the future!
