Good Italian food + Personable Italian owner/chef = good experience. My family and I have been going to Joey’s California Bistro for several years now. Natale, the owner, is of Italian descent and he hails from New York, as evidenced by his accent. I’ve had nearly everything on the menu and I’ve never been disappointed. What’s served at Joey’s is traditional, home-style (if your home is that of an Italian family in New York) Italian cuisine. Warm bread is always brought to the table before the meal and it is always delicious. They bake the bread on site. Today I had the rigatoni with smoked chicken. The pasta was done just right. The chicken had a nice smokiness to it. But the standout was the sauce. My dining guests had the salmon salad and the greek salad, which they were both pleased with. My guests loved the bread so much, they requested more. The baked ziti and the tortellini are excellent dishes, as are the chicken cacciatore and the chicken marsala. We often see other neighborhood regulars at Joey’s. The regulars can all attest that if you want something that’s not on the menu, Natale will accommodate you. One time I went to Joey’s with the family, but while everyone else wanted Italian food, I felt like having a burger, which isn’t on the menu. No big deal – a burger was made for me and it was delicious. I believe in supporting our local independent restaurants versus the large chains. Joey’s California Bistro is one local independent restaurant that I hope I’ll be supporting as a customer for many more years to come.

Stopped by Joey’s California Bistro on a gloomy day to enjoy something besides Olive Gardens microwaveable dinners. Turns out Olive Garden would have been a better option. Food was overpriced & disgusting, I didn’t even ask for a to-go plate. The carpet smelled horrendous and the rotten cilantro sprinkled all over my plate made me want to vomit.
