We went to Meritage last night as a birthday celebration. It’s located WAY in the north end of the Marriott property, but we had parked up front on the opposite end of the hotel, due to bad directions from Meritage’s hostess. When we finally arrived- at least a 15 min walk- it was extremely noisy with large parties already indulging in lots of alcohol so we were given the opportunity to sit outdoors on the quiet patio. This would have been fine if we hadn’t been totally ignored and had to walk back inside just to request our server. The food was very tasty, moist and portions were just right. If we had wanted some bread prior to the meal, the cost was $9 for a basket so we chose not to order that. Three stars for really good food, but overall low rating for service and ambience.

Bad Experience. The food is great but the experience left much to be desired. We had a spider fall on us during dinner and they didnt even offer for us to change our table and they just brushed it off like it happens all of the time. The manager didn’t come over to applogize and they did not offer to comp the wine we waited for 20 mininutes for. Our water glasses were always empty. They messed up both of our steak orders however, at that point we just wanted to get out of there before another spider fell on us, so we didn’t send them back. Also, the staff that wrapped our leftovers left out half of our food. I sent a complaint to the manager and they never responded back….horrible customer service!!! Would NOT recommend this place for date night.

Horrible service. What a horrible experience: I placed a reservation on Thursday for the next day, and when I showed up on Friday night, the restaurant was closed!!!Did they not know the restaurant will be closed the next day when I placed my reservation? And if they didn’t, was it too hard to give me a phone call?I am not setting my foot there again.

Very Nice Christmas Dinner. Had Christmas Dinner here, choice of special menu or off the regular menu. WE both ordered from the regular menu.Starters:CAESAR $9 Romaine, Parmigiano Reggiano, Garlic Herbed Crouton, White Anchovy DressingandARIZONA HEIRLOOM TOMATO $9 Organic Arugula, Organic Heirloom Tomato, Buffalo Mozzarella, Sea Salt, BalsamicoDinner:CEDAR PLANK SALMON $32Maple GlazeandHOUSE SMOKED PRIME RIB $24Served with Au Jus, Horseradish Cream *10 oz.The salmon and prime rib were nice portions, and any bigger, we would felt uncomfortable.Wine:Pinot EMERITUS, Russian River, 2007Skipped dessert, and finished our wine outside by the fire pit, a beautiful Christmas night. The restaurant was busy, we sat in a nice table for two in the bar area, would preferred a booth, but all occupied. service was good, sour dough bread was nice and fresh and warm. The only con, would be other patrons waiting for a table standing/sitting in the bar right next to our table which trying to enjoy our meal. People just do not care about others.25 Nov, 201050th Birthday Bash Dinner. Recently celebrated the big 50 with a group dinner. Reservations and menu was made earlier in the year. As time past we were moved from the restaurant to a private dinning room near the Blue Sage at no charge. Christine was our server and Sandra was our host, both provided the service you expect, and to make the evening even most enjoyable David Cassidy was performing outside our room.11 May, 2010Nice Lunch, before Golf. I had before playing the Wildfire Palmer Course, pulled pork and chips with a beer. The pork was tender, and had a nice kick to it. It was on a potato bun, which turned out to be too much bread, it was better open face.05 Apr, 2010Great Birthday Dinner. My wife and I spent my Birthday at the JW Marriott Desert Ride Resort last November. WE had dinner at the Meritage, and it was great, even had a Cabernet called Robert Craig, which is my formal name, and it was excellent.
