Favorite Restaurant. I love Roy’s Restaurants. The one at the Marriott Desert Ridge is exceptional with a stylish decor and great food. The lobster pot stickers are to die for. All the seafood dishes are great.
Nice Asian/Hawaiian fusion. Food here is solid, and all seafood is super fresh. I find that the best dishes here are the simplest, with minimal preparation. Sometimes the more complex dishes with sauces are hit or miss. Overall a very good dining experience, but be prepared to shell out the bucks…
They have a really great happy hour menu. My mom and I tried the potstickers, lobster california roll, and the spicy tuna roll appetizers. Everything tasted great. I had the pia fresco cocktail..very refreshing. The waitstaff was also very attentive and pleasant.
Try the butterfish! Amazing!
Great HH and Appetizers. We met another couple here last evening, for holiday drinks, and turned out to be dinner also. Beverages are always good, and our server was very patient with us, as we had no intention to sit, eat and leave. Apps were crispy sushi roll, waygu meatloaf, ribs, and calamari. The ribs were not tender enough, you should not have to struggle with a knife and fork. Dinner was great, Roy’s Trio, Scallops, and Salmon all prepared perfectly.Great evening to celebrate the holidays!
We loved it. Tried the aloha hour menu of apps. All wonderful. Highly recommend.
Gone downhill. Updated Review 05/21/11It makes me very sad to write this review, but unfortunately things have changed at Roy’s. We had a party of 8 and being frequent diners at Roy’s, we always request the patio. I called earlier that day asking for patio seating. The hostess told me there is no table that can accommodate that many people. Huh? Okay, whatever! I’ve been there before with that many people and sat on the patio with no problem. I arrived a little early for my reservation so I took a stroll outside and find a 10 person party sitting at a table on the patio. Hmmmm…. Not too happy about that. I tried again to request a patio table, but it was too late. Fine. It was Arizona Restaurant Week and several of us ordered from the special price fixed menu. The fish option was a Barramundi (white flakey fish similar to Mahi Mahi). It was super salty, over cooked and quite frankly unedible. We sent it back and ordered Seared Ahi Tuna instead, which was also unedible. I can’t believe what a huge disappointment the food was. On top of all of that, valet parking used to be complimentary when you dined at Roy’s, however they changed their policies and it’s now $4.53. WTF!?! Who charges $4.53 for valet parking??? So long Roy’s and JW Marriott…won’t be seeing you anytime soon! Original Review 05/16/10My family and I always go to Roy’s for special occasions and it never disappoints. Outdoor seating is wonderful. They have candles and tiki torches everywhere. It’s so beautiful, especially on a nice Arizona night. I’ve had many different items on the menu, but my favorites are: -Lobster Potstickers -Panko Spicy Tuna Roll -Maine Lobster Bisque -Hawaiian Style Misoyaki Butterfish -Chocolate Souffle Cake I will continue to dine here as much as possible. They offer complimentary valet service and everyone from the waitresses to the manager to the busers are polite and friendly. I can’t say enough about Roy’s. I love it and the JW Marriott hotel.
