Great-Horrible-Good-Okay. We went to Ruffino on Valentine evening and since we did not have reservation we sat in the bar area. The area was quiet and comfortable and our waiter was very nice. We asked for the house red and it was a good choice and we ordered the calamari which came out a few minutes along with warm garlic bread and both were delicious, calamari was well cooked and it came with a tomato sauce to dip in and the sauce was excellent. The garlic bread was the very garlicy the way I like it and it went really good with tomato sauce that came with the calamari. We then ordered our main course and our salads came out and this the horrible part. The salad was either from the night before or prepared earlier in the day and left out all day. The salad greens were wilted I am guessing from sitting in the salad dressing to long because even the crouton were moist and could be stabbed easily with the fork. They brought another salad but it was the same even after the waiter insisted he had just prepared it. He then brought us a cup on minestrone soup and that was real good. Our meal came ,bass in cream sauce with vegetable and this was good and maybe after my disappointment in the salad I would have been more enthused about the bass. My wife had the egg plant parmesian and it was good but nothing great. We then ordered a piece of cheesecake and the cheesecake was good but previously in week we stopped at a small Italian grocery deli in Scottsdale, Defalco, and had their cheesecake which was spectacular.. The slice at Defalcos was twice the size as the one at Ruffino and probably half the price. The piece from Defalco was lemony, creamy and moist while the one at Ruffino was crumbly due to dryness and the lemony flavor was very muted. I would not return to Ruffino.`
