This restaurant by far blew my expectations. Very creative menu items, flavor pairings that are exceptional and service that was bar none. The reviews were spotty so I was not sure what to expect and let me tell you this was a fantastic meal prepared by a very creative chef. A must go!
I will preface this review by saying that I have been going to Yasu for years and the sushi is fantastic. Yasu certainly has authentic Japanese food and everything I’ve had has been delicious…HOWEVER, the service is beyond horrible. After ordering it took ~25 min to get our food and when we sent one dish back for being incorrect, it took another 20 min for it to come back out – and this was just for a simple salad. The waiters constantly stood around talking to each other and barely lifted a finger to run the restaurant. Plates were not removed, waters were not filled, and we were never asked how our food was. I would somewhat understand the lack of service if it were a busy weekend night, however, this was a MONDAY night, not busy at all, and there were 5 wait staff. This was the most atrocious service I’ve ever had. In addition, I tried to leave before the dish I sent back was ready since it was taking so long and they still ended up charging us for if. I’m so disappointed by the lack of adequate service and speed for an establishment with such delicious food. A few years ago, it was nowhere near as bad and could be ignored due to the quality of the food. Yasu needs to up their game in regard to customer service in order to be the top notch restaurant it’s food deserves to be served in.
