Now it’s a sports bar. Barbudo’s has expanded into the space next door. The new room is nicely decorated with a whole bunch of tables, a bar along one wall, and big screen TVs.This isn’t your basic tex-mex food. Although there are a few combo plates, it’s mainly ala carte tiny street tacos and burritos in many variations. I thought the tacos were a little pricey for the small size and the sauce on my Green Green Burrito was way too salty.

Better now?. I see some bad reviews here, which is odd because we really like this place. We only order the burritos, which are excellent. Chips are so-so and I like the salsa a bunch. Maybe things have turned around lately?

Huevos Rancheros???. This was not on the menu, so I asked if they offered it. After a phone call and some consultation among the employes I was served something slightly resembling eggs smothered in bean puree???The corn tortillas were so tough I had difficulty cutting them with a dinner knife, the sauce was bean puree . Traditional Huevos Rancheros is made with red or green sauce, tortillas softened by a quick hot grease dip, Lots of cheese and chopped fresh onions between layers, smothered with more sauce & cheese, with a side of warm flour tortillas & butter. They did serve with shredded lettuce on the side along with guacamole & sour cream.

Sure not Mexican…or fresh.. We sought out Barbudo’s based on an online review and boy I wish we would have saved our $20. The chips were stale–this was our first sign. When our meals came (fish taco platter–a house specialty and chicken flautas) the fish was a Sysco cod fillet deep fried–just one on a tortilla. The beans were flavorless and the rice tasted burnt. The flautas were good enough–acceptable as they were on sale but not great. Advertised as ‘served with sour cream, guacamole, shredded cheese and fresh pico de gallo’, when the two fried, filled flour tortillas arrived there was a dollop of sour cream about the size of a nickel–the guac, cheese and pico were even less. These two meals and a bottle of Longboard came to over $20 for lunch. Not authentic Mexican, not enough food and not fresh. We will not be back sad to say!
