This was one strange place. I can’t see American restaurants being that different from Canadian ones, but I did not understand how this place worked. Was super low brow, but it was fun. I’d probably go back for fun.
Southerners Take Note of this place. I’ll admit I was a bit put off by the Strip Mall location right off the busy corner of Scottsdale and Shea, The uncomfortable chairs and tables, I almost didnt go in. Got inside, looked at the menu and ordered. As I ate my food I thought, Hey, this is pretty darn good! Since then Ive not had a bad anything here. If you are looking for some great southern fried stuff to go along with some EXCELLENT BBQ, this is your place. We have found the ‘to go family’ meals work out best for us, the portions are HUGE, all the meats are tasty and tender, they have a choice of a couple of sauces and the sides are authentic, artery clogging southern grubb!
Good baked potato…& icecream!. Although it is nothing special, it is quick, fast and convenient and you can have icecream too!
Great BBQ. This place is a welcome addition to Scottsdale. Sure, it’s a chain, but in this case that means consistently well prepared food: Time-tested recipes and great execution. The pulled pork is excellent. Free soft-serve for dessert is a nice touch, too. Last time I was there, Dickey’s featured fried okra which was very good. They have several more conventional sides, and caesar salad, too.
