I loved this place. Our server was very friendly, explained everything on the menu, and took time to answer all our questions. I would definetly go back.
Old School Restaurant. I’m old school and I’m afraid that I don’t mean this review title in a good way. The service was professional, courteous, and fast, but the menu and ambiance were extremely dated. I mean 1980’s dated. The dining area consisted of a mass quantity of unimpressive memorabilia resulting in a dark, claustrophobic ambiance. All of our party agreed that the food was definitely fair at best. Do yourself a favor and skip this overrated, overpriced & outdated, mid-western style chop shop and go to Bandera instead.
The atmosphere was friendly and we had a good time looking at all the memorabilia on the walls, along with the cartoon sketches. There were some well-know people there including the baseball comissioner Bud Seleg, who was eating with Bob Uecker. We had reservations for 8 but they didn’t seat us for half an hour. It was also freezing inside and they didn’t have us order our main courses for a long time. We were eating with menus in our laps until we’d cleaned off the appetizers. The food was solid, not the best ever tasted but not bad. The ribs were good, and I really liked the hot fudge for the dessert. The chicken schnitzel was very lemony. Lemon-y
A Phoenix Icon. If your from the midwest, this is a chop house that will bring you back some memories. Great atmosphere with all the sports memorabilia and pictures on the wall throughout the restaurant. If you like ribs, try the chard rib app, tender and fall off the bone, tow types of BBQ sauces are brought, but you don’t need it.. Bread/toast with butter and liver sausage and raw onions is brought to the table, liver has a nice texture, and the raw onions really went nice. Had the broasted chicken with the deli style cole slaw, a whole half of chicken, nicely done and not greasy like fried chicken you think of. Service was slightly slow, but the atmosphere of the restaurant made the time pass.
DRIED OUT RIBS. Ok so this is our first time at D&C. Not good the ribs had to be returned as they were so dry the meat stuck t the bones. The server quickly returnend them to the kitchen and a nother 1/2 order of ribs was returned and much better. My 20 oz Prime Rib was over 1/2 fat for 30 bucks I would think the serving could have been more meat less fat. The good news was through Social Living the meal was still 28 bucks . not a cheap nignt and not sure if we would jump on another Social coupon.. We will return to Houstons/Hillstone on Camelback. Sorry first impressions cant be done over.
Best ribs ever. This place has the best ribs ever. Those who complain about the ribs here have no idea what good ribs taste like. Their BBQ sauce is top notch. If you want a steak, go somewhere else. They got rid of their copped carrots and peppers, which were really good and the only part of the chopped liver plate worth eating (I almost threw up when I tried the liver), so that is disappointing.
Nice place. Food is very rich. Almost too much so. I enjoyed the experience but will be more discerning about what I order when I return. Staff was personable and helpful.
