This was the first visit for a party of 5. The service was wrote and was nothing more that an effort to up-sell the highest priced items on the menu. The burrata portion was tiny for the price and the general food quality was only average. The prices were nowhere near the food quality they should have reflected. The atmosphere was loud and not comfortable for a conversation. I would not return to this restaurant or recommend it to anyone. There are too many good choices where you can get much better quality food at an appropriate price.
Very loud atmosphere, making even casual conversation most annoying. Food is very good, but expensive. Ok place to go to people-watch, but lousy if you want to actually talk and be heard.
Fat Ox is an upscale restaurant that serves modern Italian Foods. The atmosphere is energetic and loud and it’s very dimly lit and hard to see your food. Most of the plates are very small tastings and out waitress suggested getting many more plates than we did. I do have to say the appetizers were amazing. The charred Taleggio and the Casoncelli hand made stuffed pasta were very memorable and delicious but it was so dark I couldn’t see what I was eating. I was getting things in my mouth I didn’t know were there. My waitress didn’t tell me that my dinner came with polenta so I got an extra side dish I wasn’t expecting. The problem I encountered was that it was too hard to enjoy my chicken dinner. Although it was made with a delicious sauce the chicken was next to impossible to eat because it was on the bone with soft skin and I couldn’t see what I was sawing threw and got rubbery skin in my mouth by accident. It was like Murder in the Dark. We eat with our eyes and I would have enjoyed everything more if it wasn’t so dark in the restaurant. Most of the food really was GREAT but it very noisy and way too dark in the restaurant to see the food.
