Good,comfy,friendly!. Met an old friend here for lunch.We had a couple of rolls and a sashimi lunch.Sashimi perfectly fresh, adequate portion. My wife and I have loved this restaurant for years. They still serve some of the best sushi in town, the price isn’t terrible, however the last time we went in we could sense a change immediately. The ownership has changed. Now, instead of the wonderful attention to detail, the welcoming and fun atmosphere, this is turning into another snobby, too-dimly-lit watering hole with wait staff that are completely inconvenienced by diners–that are a dime a dozen in old town. Good luck Kyoto, there are plenty of other good sushi restaurants in town, you just lost your biggest edge in my book.
Great Japanese. My husband and I LOVE this restaurant. This is the best Japanese food in town and sometimes I wonder WHO and WHY people go to RA if you can get GREAT real Japanese food for the same price.
Still good, but has gone downhill a bit. I have been going to Kyoto for about 6 years, and the food and service is not as good as it used to be. We went last year for a friend’s birthday for teppenyaki and had horrible service. Our chef was great but the waitress was horrible. She didn’t clear any plates, we had to make room for our entrees by placing our dishes on the shelf next to us. Our drinks took forever to be refilled. However I went there recently and the sushi is still good. Again the service wasn’t the best and we had an extremely apathetic waitress. For sushi and sake bombers before a night out, this place is still a good bet. Just be sure to make a reservation or prepare for a long wait.

Delicious!. Not only is the food really good but this place is fun and young! I’ve been to many teppen-yaki places and they were all a little drab, atmosphere wise, whereas Kyoto feels like a party spot! A great place to start your evening with friends and move on to the bars and clubs down the street. LOVES this place!
