LONG TIME LOVER OF PORTILLO’S. Being from Chicago I was lucky to be able to visit the original Portillo’s just off route 83 and St Charles Road.This was a small diner with maybe seating for 20 or 30 people. The food was great back then and it is every bit as good now.I only wish that they had a location around Arrowhead Ranch I would think that Desert Ridge would be an ideal location.Note: Check this out Portillo site planers, you won’t be disappointed.
Taste of Chicago. Well what can I say being from Chicago and having Chicago Cubs spring training camp here and now finally Portillos has finally arrived. The Greatest Chicago Italian beefs and Chicago hotdogs bringing the the food of the Windy City of Chicago to Scottsdale to enjoy. Just eating there bring back all my Chicago memories and the fun living in a Big city and growing up there.I have to also let everyone know about their flamed char-broiled burgers & char-broiled chicken sandwiches are all Great when you need a change from having a beef or dog , and the fries are always fresh and hot. 5 stars in taste ,quality,price, and memories .
Worth the wait. Portions are HUGE and very filling. The large choc shake is giant. Highly recommend fries…fresh, crispy and good. Best hot dog outside of Chicago! Glad they are here!!!

Tried it again, not for me. Liked it less this 2nd time around.We ate inside, surrounded by a busy, aggressive crowd of staff & hungry families.This place is an efficient corporate eating warehouse.Had the Italian beef, dipped. It was mostly bread & gravy. Not enough BEEF!Beef was unremarkable.Onion rings stand out as the item I find worthwhile. Crunchy & delicious, but too small a portion to share.Hot dog was ……….OK.Just telling it like it is folks. This place is OK, but no destination to remember.09 Apr, 2013Don’t mean to annoy my Chicago friends, BUT…………….. Eaten here twice, and I’m glad they are here. That said, the food isn’t great.Had chili dog. Dog itself was nothing special, chili was below average. I prefer Ted’s charcoal grilled . Tried the tamale. These are midwest tamales, factory made and taste like the canned things I used to get overseas. Now ,the onion rings are a different story. The big ,sweet, crunchy things are delicious.The Italian beef was a bit dry and under seasoned for my taste. I prefer Luke’s.Skinny little wife had a big salad, with chicken and fruit. It was DELICIOUS, and worth going out of your way forWe will continue to eat here occasionally, love the drive thru convenience.Food ……….C+Service……..BAmbience….BValue………….B
