I really wanted to taste kimchi so I got the kimchi soup. It was good.I didn’t ask for less spicy but I wasn’t too spicy which was really nice, especially for my first time.
Interesting lunch. My husband and I went there for our weekly lunch date. The waiter was very interested in our cars (I drive a Mustang and my hubby meet me on his sport bike.) He took our order and talked with us about super cars and bikes. I found the food good, but my husband has been stationed in Korea and he said that it was good – but not great. I liked the restaurant and the personal attention I received.
Amazing and so delicious! Please disregard below reviews. The server was very nice, and he was fantastic to us. We ordered bulgolgi, galbi, and dak galbi. Of course somethings in the menu are not for everyone, but please do not spoil this great opportunity for others. In conclusion, this is a great little place and it was exactly like a bbq in Korea. Take a bunch of friends and just order until you are full.
Chef’s opinion. I am Korean American who happens to be a professional chef in west valley. My wife (who is white) has very strong opinions when comes to Korean food. Of course, she is always comparing my food to Korean places we go. We have been to just about all the restaurants that serves Korean food in the Valley. There are places that I go back but I think tonight might be only night we would go there. Our Galbi was not marinted well and can tell they were using lower quality short ribs. There sides were just ok and nothing stood out as our favorite. Service was just ok also. Nothing stood our for us to go back..I give 4 outta 10.
New Ownership… Again!. My husband and I stopped for lunch here a couple of days ago and were surprised (maybe we shouldn’t have been!) that there was ANOTHER new owner. They have been there about 3 weeks, said that the restaurant has been there quite some time but that ownership has changed quite a number of times (no kidding, really?). I just hope this owner sticks around because the food is great! My husband had his usual, the Dolsot Bibimbap (it’s served in a stone pot, which is so hot, it will burn your rice on the bottom if you don’t mix everything up, but it’s served with a variety of things on top, including a fried egg that cooks the yolk as you mix everything). He used less of the chili paste/sauce than he used to because it is spicier than it used to be.I had the Kimchi Jigae, which in this case is an extremely spicy stew (more like a chunky soup) with kimchi & pork (I opted for the pork on the recommendation of the owner, but it wasn’t pork like just regular pork, I think it was something along the lines of a very lean Korean Sausauge that was sliced). It was SO spicy and the chili they use is just like the stuff my aunt gets sent in from Korea. Makes all the difference in the world! The little side dishes were interesting. A couple I could have done without, but that’s just personal preference. The ones we liked, they brought out more of. You just have to ask. But the flavors are more authentic and less westernized. What a nice change! They have added a few things to the menu (which I noticed aren’t on the website). My aunt (who is Korean) once told me that if the kimchi is good, Korean people will eat at the restaurant. If it’s bad, you won’t see them around. In this case, there were people speaking Korean there, so I’d say it’s a safe bet. We really enjoyed it!
For access to the full menu use the website link above; it’s very well done.15 Apr, 2009Excellant Korean food. My favorite in the valley. Friendly staff and updated dcor since the new ownership took over.
Under New Management. So we went to Korean for our favorite Bool Go Gi and Homemade Korean Chicken Soup tonight to find that they are under new ownership. They are now called Red Kimchee and have a new menu. The prices looked pretty much the same, but the menu was quite a bit shorter than before. The food was a little less amazing than before, and since they are waiting to get their new liquor license, we had to do without our fav Korean beer, OB. I’m going to miss Korean, and hope to find that same tasty beef and soup at another locale.
