Best Pizza and Salad EVER!. We dined with our New York friends last night at Spiga and they said the pizza was as good as any in New York. The crust was thin and crunchy and perfectly made in the wood fired oven. I loved the Sweety Drop peppers on the sausage pizza (look them up) so I ordered some for myself online. My husband and I split a delicious Spiga salad (plenty for two). For $29 (for 2) it was one of the best meals I’ve had.
Not very Italian ……..but the appetizers were good!. This is a stylish modern clean looking restaurant. The menu is unique and is studded with some Italian Style Food but seems more like American Food especially on the dinner menu. They offered bread and it was a delicious crusty bread but it came with hummus. I started with Beet Ravioli’s that were pasta free because they were made of thin slices of beet stuffed with goat cheese and topped with micro greens, pistachios and orange zest. I thought they were very good but my husband didn’t. My husband had the meatballs over polenta appetizer and said they were very good but was disappointed with the Bolognese pasta dish for dinner. He said it lacked flavor and the fresh pasta stuck together. I had a tossed kale salad and thought it was delicious. Classic Dishes like Osso Bucco and Saltimbocca you won’t see on this menu.
Great menu, great service, beautiful space. Wonderful lunch with fresh iced teas, generous Spiga salads and a shared order of perfect savory short rib ravioli. We’ll be back for more, so save us a Table42!
I rather eat my own foot…. Now typically I keep an open mind to restaurants that are brand new and still working out their kinks. However, even in their infancy I have never experienced waiting an hour and a half for my meal. I was more concerned that there must have been casualties in the kitchen, why else for the wait? The waitress simply walked away in the middle of taking our orders without explanation. I ordered a pizza, it came out burnt beyond recognition. Someone else ordered pasta that came out undercooked. Dare we try dessert? No. We might’ve had to wait another 30min. All in all the atmosphere was probably the only impressive thing.
