Absolutely my favorite breakfast restaurant when I am in Scottsdale, AZ. Recommend the Fantastic Dutch Baby, strawberry waffles, Potato Pancakes, blueberry pancakes, crepes and great oven-finished veggie omelettes. .. and the list goes on!Don’t let the name fool you. A 1950’s retro diner that is part of the Original Pancake House chain although Ron the owner has always taken pride in providing exceptional quality food and unique original consistent recipes for over 25 years. Highly recommend.
When I was born, my Mother & Father owned The Original Pancake House in Kansas City. I literally grew up in the restaurant eating 49ers, Dutch Babies, French Toast, Silver Dollar Pancakes, Potato Pancakes (my Mom’s favorite), and several other unique German & Dutch breakfast dishes. To this day I am so happy that the franchise is still around and even close to where I live.This is such a special restaurant because of the dishes you won’t find anywhere else besides overseas. It’s pricy but it is so worth it.Try the Dutch-baby or 49ers if you happen to check this restaurant out. I promise you won’t be disappointed. My mouth is salivating just thinking about it!

This is the real McCoy. I’m old vintage. Was nine years old when the Origina; Pancake House opened in Portland Oregon in 1953 and the family went once a month for pancakes and my favorite, the Dutch baby, an oven baked concoction that melts in your mouth. The OPH in Scottsdale using fresh ingredients carries on the tradition — my brother and I havecome here over the years and attest to the fact. Five stars.
Decent food. Service needs help.. What’s with all the rules and signs? Cash only? Are we still in the dark ages? And what’s up with the decor? With all that money your saving accepting only cash why don’t you freshen up the joint?
Fluffy omelette. Arrived around 10:00am Saturday and seated right away. Ordered the Apple Pancake junior size. It was plenty big, steaming hot and good. Wife had veggie omelette that was very light and fluffy with side of buttermilk pancakes. Excellent. Waitress was very good and helpful in selection. Coffee and water always refilled. The A/C worked very well. It a pleasure to have a hot breakfast with coffee during summer in AZ and be comfortable.
Buttermilk Pancakes!. Buttermilk pancakes are the bomb dot com!Ok…that was cheesy, but seriously. I never expected pancakes to taste that good. Yea, the service is crappy and the decor could use some updating, but the food makes up for it.
