I went there on my lunch hour. I have to say the place was pretty empty, and the service was still slow. It took 10 minutes before a waiter even came to take my order (less than 10 people in the place). The sweet and sour soup was way too overpowered. Not impressed and won’t be back. Food in general was bland. Half of my dish was plain unseasoned white rice. My vegetable dish came with almost no vegetables on it. Pretty poor food.
Best Asian Food Anywhere. We have been dining here since Tottie and her husband, Mark, purchased Shanghai Palace back in 2003 or so. It’s AMAZING asian food. From the great Sushi bar to Pad Lard Na to Pad Thai to Penang curries, Pho dishes, Bun Tom, Tom Yum, Sat and Vietnamese spring rolls with peanut sauce, and the wonderful Tottie Rolls, the best egg rolls you will have ever tasted. Even the Chinese offerings – usually at other restaurants an afterthought – the dishes are well thought out and gloriously prepared and presented, which goes for the whole menu. Tottie even makes homemade (non-dairy) Ice Cream, just to die for. If I could, I would eat there every day. The beautiful Crystal Dragon in the waiting area, made from individual bits of Svarovski crystal, is alone worth the price of admission. For takeout, if your order is $30 or more you get a free fried rice dish (veggie or chicken). Humongous portions – if you leave hungry it’s your own fault. I can’t imagine why a certain Canadian reviewer thought the food was too bland and not spicy – perhaps she was at a different restaurant (in Winnipeg). At Tottie’s, the only way the food is not spicy is if you specifically order it that way. Once you visit Tottie’s, you will never forget the food you’re served or the hospitality you experience.
Bland. Waitress and atmosphere were great. Food was bland, no spice at all. It was really a disappointment.
This place was delicious! The atmosphere was great and our waitress was very attentive and great with any questions we had about the menu. We started with the coconut soup- highly recommend it! It was creamy and seasoned perfectly. The waitress suggested the crispy beef and we also ordered the pad kee Mao- both were excellent choices! We could have increased the heat a bit but we erred on the cautious side since it was our first visit. Will absolutely return!
Great curry. Delicious curry. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed in the pad Thai. On of the worst I’ve tasted. I’ll definitely come back for the curry and try something else.
Love it. Considering its next to a planned parent hood you would’t expect much from the outside looking in, BUT this place is wonderful. Beautiful decor, great food. The sugar cane chicken lettuce wraps are my favorite, they give you your own little grill to brown your chicken at your table. Sounds like a lot of work but its not the chicken is already cooked you just throw it on the mini grill for a couple minutes and viola. plus they serve mint and cucumber strips to put in the wraps and the peanut sauce that comes with it is such a great addition, a little sweet a little spicy, it ties the whole wrap together lovely. I would deff recomend this place!
Totties is my first choice. I love her pho and tom ghi gai and Thai-Vietnamese items, the soft shell crab panang is bomb. I always get the tuna tataki salad and chicken skews to start. love the peanut sauce. The atmosphere, smooth jazz music, and totties rolls makes me happy. I love the coconut milk ice cream and fried bananas with honey, dont forget the moonstone coconut and lemongrass sake – YUM. Tottie, the owner and chef is friendly, smart and beautiful and her restaurant is my favorite, the number one place I take my family to eat.
