I really love this place… it has an amazing menu and wine list for way less than could be charged! I have been once… and the only thing stopping me from going back was that LITERALLY EVERYTHING… was way too salty! My date agreed. Some things we ordered were nearly inedible due to the salt but we ate them anyway bc the meal was so amazing! Crab cakes and lobster ravioli with lobster bisque sauce!? Fml! The stuffed mushrooms will curl ur toes… I’m hoping the chef was hungover or sick the day we went and that’s why literally everything brought to the table was way over salted…. can’t wait to try this place again!
We were not impressed. Had the crab chowder. It tasted like thick chicken noodle soup. And it was made with imitation crab. My question is why bother making it if you’re not going to use real crab? I had the short ribs. Let’s just say the noodles were good. My daughter had the fettuccine Alfredo and the sauce was flavorless. We were from out of town and met a friend here. I’m guessing there’s better Italian places in Phoenix. Go find them.
First off, great food! 🙂 Had the chicken marsela and lasagna so there’s no problem there. But the staff wasn’t so great. Our waiter seemed like he didn’t want to be there at all! And we hardly saw him at our table. We received more help from the busboy Gabe than we did with our waiter. Gabe went even as far as to box our leftovers for us before we left and we really appreciated that; some of the best customer service my husband and I have received at a restaurant
The positive reviews drew us to Sal’s. However, our server was more intent on rushing us out Granted our reservation was at 9 pm on a weekday. The implication was …. We are at the end of our day. His arrogance turned s pleasant evening into an unpleasant evening. Food was good except the mussels were very tough. If you’re a local maybe you would be treated as a wanted customer. Too many nice restaurants that respect patronage. Will not return.
Food fair Made special req…. Food fair Made special request for tiramisu earlier that day At conclusion of dinner was told there was no more tiramisu. Attitude unacceptable since we had made an earlier request. Very obvious the.waiter wanted to get off his shift!
BEST EVER!. Our favorite place in town, best food, GREAT SERVICE, Toni, Johnny, Raul,& Mary Ann. they will become like family ! .Awesome prices. A must if you live in AZ. or visit here. Anything you get on the bar menu is wonderful. If you are there at lunch try the Mediterranean best Salad you will ever find anywhere! Also, the cheesecake, have Johnny pour some amaretto on top! AMAZING! Soups another must order!
Terrific Food & Service. My family and I have been long time diners of Uncle Sal’s best Italian in AZ no question. It’s east coast Italian food and southern Italian cuisine. I’ve never had a bad meal there, but I have had dishes I would not order again simply because they were not to my liking – but they were cooked perfectly. The food is consistently great and I’ve ordered all over the menu; pasta, chicken, veal, seafood, steak…everything is great. Portions are perfect, homemade soups are made everday and they’re amazing. Service is always great and this restaurant usually has the same staff, which is a good sign it is a good place to work. I like knowing folks when I walk in if I’m a regular. Although the tall blonde lady is rude off and on, sometimes she treats diners like they’re staff. Make sure you don’t get her and you’ll be in great hands. Highly recommend it.
