(Taste of Thai 2 had a fire a while back and it appears that they have not reopened as of Aug 2018)It’s been a few years since my last visit and I was disappointed in the food. This use to be a regular stop on visits, while not great Thai it was consistent and good. However something has changed, maybe owners or cook? The fried tofu appetizer was strange. Thin sliced firm tofu cut into little triangles with no detectable seasoning and only a thick one-note peanut sauce for dipping. The soup was also a bit perplexing. Finely chopped vegetables in a broth, very bland and again lacking seasoning, no cilantro or basil. The Massaman Curry looked bland and it was. I don’t think I’ve ever had a Thai dish served without visible cilantro, Basil or Thai peppers till now. The service was fine, atmosphere dated but cleanish. The older reviews mirror my past experiences. The positive newer reviews make me believe that they have found a new audience with people that prefer a more subdued version of Thai cooking. That’s certainly not what I was looking for.
I recommend the salad as the starter and evil jungle prince as the meal. They also have great spring rolls and coconut soup if you want an app.
