I’ve got to give it to Glasgow’s. They’ve continued to hold strong and fight the man and not touch their parking lot in 60 years in order to not have to maintain parking lot guidelines provided by big brother. When you first walk in you feel like you’ve walked into a restaurant from a Quentin Tarantino flick as the light fixtures cast a red glow over the 1960’s diner furniture and one of the employees plays their hipster music at a modest level. The menu is made of what we’ll Ark-Mex and Country Americana. You can get anything from Tacos to Fried Chicken Livers. You can even get your kid chicken-o’s if they want them. The food is doing better than Tiger Wood’s golfing and shooting for par maybe slightly better than par. The salsa was unique and tasted like they had slipped some of the pickled jalapeo juice into it which I must say I actually enjoyed. The queso is a white cheese dip that is one of the better ones I’ve had in northwest Arkansas. The taco shells were a little stale or just weren’t heated before being served but everything in the beef taco was good so I really didn’t mind. The chile rellano was pretty good and the rice and beans were well… Rice and beans. All in all we loved the atmosphere, the food was good, and we’ll be back to give the Country Americana side of the menu a try and maybe take a selfie with the Marlin that hangs on the wall.
No other way to describe this place but OLD SCHOOL. You can get Mexican or a burger. Chips and Salsa or fries. Kinda strange…………….
50 years of Ark-Mex cuisine… Glasgow’s, which started out on the far west side of town, is now firmly ensconced between several new hotels in Walmart-land’s Rainbow Curve area. Don’t look for nuevo Latino or authentic Mexican — this is all Arkansas interpretation of what we used to think Mexican food actually was, and that’s AOK. Love the hot chips. tiedyetravels.com
Dont listen to the haters!! I loved it. The guacamole was phenomenal. My food was NOT greasy, in fact my whole meal was really good. Im going to assume those that dislike this place are superficial snobs and can’t get over the decor, which is dated but that’s part of the charm and another quality that I loved about it. Fact of the matter is, the place has been around since 1964, you don’t stay in business that long unless you’re good at what you do.
Not worth the trouble.. Took my wife there tonight for our first and last visit. We arrived at 7:00pm and got seated promptly. Our order was taken shortly there after. We finally got our dinners 53 minutes later. The food was mediocre. My wife got a burger and onion rings and I got the Durango. The onion rings had a chalky texture to the batter. We made it through a couple. My wife said the burger was alright. I thought the Durango was sub par. The chile relleno was oddly rolled up into a skinny tube and didnt have much cheese filling at all. The tamale was ok. Lots of rice and beans. The size of the meals were pretty good, but the quality of the food lacked. We had to revise our after dinner plans because it took so long to get our meal. We looked up the online ratings of this place while we were waiting on our meal and decided we should have checked before we stopped by. Overall pretty bad experience.
Don’t Go. I wish I had read a review before I went to this hole in the wall. I ordered Chili Rellenos hoping it would be authentic. Nothing was authentic not even a simple taco. The taco was a taco bell shell with ground beef and taco seasoning I can make at home. Now the Chile Relleno is not even fresh It was frozen and I could tasted the freezer burn. Upon asking if it was fresh the waitress told me It was not and substitute it out with more non authentic food. I would not recommend this place at all. The service was very slow and I saw them constantly using a microwave to compensate for the slow kitchen. Save your money and go to taco bell.
Good lunch.. What can I say, this place is a Bentonville original. One of the few places left that’s been here longer than me. Get the lunch special. Hot – don’t touch the plate!
