Their website sold me but also built up my expectations; they were not met. The food was average diner type quality from a small regional chain, I really wanted to love it. It started well enough, no walkup order counter! I ordered the root beer since they tout a frosted mug on line but got plastic and common fountain soda on ice. The Rons Special Burger was decent but not remarkable. The onion rings were very crispy but lacked onion flavor, very thin. The chili isnt bad but reminded me of hot dog chili. Service was adequate, I liked the casual cafe atmosphere. I may give it another go, the chili would go great on a hotdog and the cheese tots and Spanish fries sound good. Who knows, maybe if you ASK for a frosted mug since according to the website its a Rons Tradition…
We came here on several recommendations. We ordered the chili, bacon cheeseburger and onion rings. It was good, greasy, grill food like you would expect if you were at the county fair. You know what I mean? It wasn’t outstanding chili, the bacon cheeseburger was good but nothing truly great and the onion rings were just okay. It seemed very disorganized and definitely messy. Our table was dirty and even after the girl wiped at it, we had to use napkins to remove the food and trail of water left behind. No offense, but we weren’t impressed and it wasn’t something we want to repeat.
