Fan of the Gyro and hummus but not much else. Couldn’t really tell if if was a Greek restaurant or just a burger joint selling gyros. I had the Lamb and Beef Gyro with the steak fries and Greek salad that wasn’t a Greek Salad. Overall the Pita was warm and not too doughy. The Gyro Meat was piled high along with Tomatoes and raw onions, and Taziki sauce on the side. Good Gyro but the steak fries were simply frozen steak fries. The Greek salad was Iceberg lettuce with tomatoes cucumbers and feta cheese with Olive Garden Salad dressing, simply not a Greek salad. If you are looking for good Greek food just go on to little rock and hit up Laylas.
A steady, always ample meal with appeal. That sounds corny. Hey, the Blackwood is probably the best non-Reuben Reuben in the state — a Reuben with attitude. Also tomatoes. tiedyetravels.com
Amazing!. If you don’t think their gyros are amazing then you must have a Greek mother who makes them for you! I’ve lived all over the country and even worked at a pita bakery and these gyros are some of the best. Bread is always fresh, Taziki sauce is great and the gyro meat is properly sliced and cooked to perfection. No, I am not a paid spokes person. Just a fan!
Gyro Heaven. I’m a total Greek food enthusiast. I’ve sample this kind of fare all over the state and Blackwood’s has the best gyro sandwich and hummus I’ve tried to far. The prices have gone up a bit disappointingly but I keep coming back every so often because I’m seriously addicted, even though I haven’t lived in that city for some time now. I can’t personally rate most of their other food because I don’t really order anything else lol, but my guy is a huge fan of their burgers and fries. When I was in college their staff was great, but that was about 5 years ago now. Whenever I’m coming through Conway I’ll grab a to-go order to take home with me, so my interaction with the servers is limited these days. I have noticed a bit of a decline in their demeanor, especially among the girls that work the register – but I’m in and out of there in moments so whatever. Still love that Greek-y goodness.
I hate what I am about to say. Blackwoods used to be my favorite restaurant in town. I’ve been going since it opened and was a tiny hole in the wall. I have noticed the wait staff has gone down tremendously. I ordered a ham and cheese pita on my last visit and it was completely cold, but just came off the grill. Why you might wonder? Bc they took a handful of ham slabbed it on the grill and warmed the outside and the outside pieces only and then used a slice of american cheese, which again was not melted. Normally it’s this amazing greasy, shredded cheddar cheesy wonderful mess to eat. We also didn’t order fries and got them and the waiter didn’t care and charged us. We went in probably an hour in a half before closing. Another couple came in as we were leaving the the wait staff was very upset they were not going to get to close early on a Friday night. When they found out it was a take out order they perked up a touch. Lunch hour the food is normally better. Maybe we went at the wrong time, but should that even have to be an excuse?
So so. We really love the food here but the wait staff is hit or miss. They also never allow us to do any sort of substitutions or add ons at all. Im not picky but if I want something added and have no problem paying then what is the issue? One waitress offered us blackening seasoning on our fries one evening which we enjoyed but on return visits to the restaurant we have been denied this addition. Even though it sounds silly, small things like this can really take away from a dining experience.
Small place but I love the food!
