    Shane and James you guys rock !. Went to Umami today for lunch met Shane the new Sous Chef, and James. Great guys they are now flying in awesome exotic fish to serve up and the quality is unbeatable. I definitely recommend it. I think the best part was them showing me the actual fresh fish they used, pretty cool to see what you are eating before it is served and what the different type of species are.

    This is the third time I have been to Umami’s, and I have not been disappointed with a single bite. The only exception to this was being too full to eat anymore! We have sat at the sushi bar everytime, and tried recommendations from the sushi chefs and we have adventured out on our own from the menu! Everything has been fresh and delicious! It is the best of Conway and Little Rock as far as sushi is concerned.

    Best sushi in Conway!!! We have been here 3 times and have never had anything that wasn’t great! We live in Sherwood, but would drive to Conway just to come to Umami! Tonight we really enjoyed visiting with Shane and Joey as they made our sushi for us.

    Waiting and waiting and…. We are huge sushi fans and normally we love UmamI however this visit was different. It was a busy Friday night and we expected a little bit of a wait for our food but what we didn’t expect was sitting for an hour and a half waiting after we had ordered. Our waitress was nice enough and kept assuring us that our food was coming. We watched mupltipe other tables come, eat sushi, and leave and debated multiple times leaving. Finally we got our food but after waiting so long we really didn’t enjoy it enough. You lost two loyal customers tonight.

    Bad service at lunch – lack of communication. I’ve been to Umami a handful of times. Each time the service has been lacking. It is very slow. When I go it’s usually at the suggestion of a friend or a married couple we know. Today a few ladies and I from work ate at the hibachi grill. One of my good friends had never been so I had high hopes for today. We were sat down immediately and the hibachi chef was already prepping the grill. After the waiter had gotten our drinks out to us, he took our orders. The chef wasn’t entertaining at all. Nothing compared to the chefs at Fuji. He just cooked our lunch. We later found out after the chef had put another couples’ order on the grill that the waiter did not bring out an extra tray to the chef that contained our orders. We had even been served our fried rice before our salads even came out. We sat for a bit with our fried rice and vegetables waiting on our proteins to be cooked. I held out hope that the service would be better but I was disappointed. If I can help it, I won’t be returning to Umami again for a while. We have already decided that we’ll be going to Fuji’s next time we want hibachi for lunch.

    Bleh. We went to eat lunch there and the service was horrible. We didn’t get our salads until after the rice had been fried. There was a mix-up on the meat we ordered and we had to wait extra time to allow for it to be cooked therefore making our rice get cold. The cook on the hibachi grill had a poor attitude and was not friendly at all. As he was cooking the rice was flying everywhere and some ended up in my friend’s drink. The waiter also was not good. This was my first time eating here and I was not impressed at all and probably won’t be returning.
