Burgers Are the Bomb. Farrell’s is located right on Dickson Street in the heart of all the action. Bar visibility and name do not stick out even though it’s prominently located on the corner for all to see. We have walked past this many times and my college aged kids go by it all the time when we are not in town. None of us noticed it let alone try it. It’s a fun bar with a nice layout. The decor uses heavy dark woods and wainscoting throughout the place. The ceiling is high like a loft or warehouse, so it creates an unusual but cool look against the library/study look below. On the far side of the bar, there is a pool table and shuffleboard for drink time entertainment.Service is bar-like. It’s not great, but it gets the job done. Some of the menu items were not available due to lack of ingredients to make the dish. We ordered two burgers and Parmesan Fries, and OMG they rocked. The burgers land in my top 20 burger list. The fries are now my number one. The combination of crisp fries and light parmesan coating made them taste so good. The Hangover (egg) Burger and Ultimate Bacon Cheese Burger were phenomenal. The bun is soft and chewy and holds up to the juiciness of the burger. The ground beef tenderloin has a wonderful flavor and is cooked with a slight pink in the middle. The bacon is crisp and gives off a heavy bacon taste. The combination of of white cheddar pimento cheese and American cheese finish off the burger. Huge thumbs up to the burger and fries. I probably will never get to try anything else on the menu because my stop will be a destination stop to specifically have the burger and fries. Side note, it is pricey. Burgers are $13 and come with chips. Fries are extra.
Mediocre. A cool bar. The staff was really friendly and it is a great place to watch some football games. The menu looks really promising but unfortunately, they just can’t quite deliver. We ordered a large variety of food and were disappointed with most items. We had truffle bacon fries, roasted brussel sprouts, arugula salad, hot wings, crab cakes, the reuben, and chicken fingers. Chicken fingers come with 3 generic frozen chicken fingers. The fries and brussel sprouts were VERY good. Crab cakes were burnt to a crisp on the outside and the reuben was a pathetic piece of meat on some soggy bread. Arugula salad was a pile of overdressed arugula with the burnt bacon on the side. The wings were also over fried and begged for more sauce. The food was the quality of a large chain such as Chilis or Fridays. We were in there on an SEC game saturday so it was unbelievably packed. I understand a slower kitchen but when you wait 45 minutes for burnt food it is hard to make excuses. Maybe they should try a dressed down menu so they can produce food that is actually worth eating. I wish we had tried somewhere else for lunch.
Big Fan. Farrell’s is a great place to grab a bite to eat and watch the game. Good beer selection and the food is much better than expected from a sports bar type restaurant. We usually try to stop by every time we are in Fayetteville.
