No clue what some of these negative people are talking about. We were very impressed with pretty much everything. We are a medical flight crew that were flying missions all day and we’re able to get to the airport during a pilot swap. My partner and I were ready to eat at the airport people told us to try Jerry Neel’s. This place is legit. Ribs had perfect amount of smoke flavor, tender, juicy with just the right amount of tug that quality BBQ is supposed to have. Cole slaw was decent. Beans were perfect. You can tell the ice tea is made traditionally (we drained several glasses). My partner got the chopped beef platter and didn’t leave anything on the plate. The black berry cobbler (WOW!) should be illegal because I’m sure there is something addictive in it. We were not impressed with the cashier. She didn’t seem to want to be there. Our server was absolutely fantastic. She was happy, friendly and accommodating. The owner came out and talked tobus. She was gracious, friendly and happy that we were there. This is a place that I will not only be back to but bring my family to (we live 2 hours away) and tell my friends about.Fantastic!!!
Used to be great, but has continually declined.. I’ve eaten at Jerry Neals weekly for years. They have good food, but a definite problem with consistency. I’ve experienced fantastic meals but those are the occasion. Most often something is not right: cold beans, burnt baked potatoes, over-microwaved buns, too few fries (while they did bring more free after I complained, I shouldnt have to ask). There is no quality control. Several months ago I noticed they began to reduce the amount of meat on their sandwiches. I was told they weigh the meat, but my most recent sandwich had so little meat you literally could not see the meat because the top bun was resting on the bottom bun and the 4 or 5 very thin slices of meat were flatter than a pancake inside the bun. I would rather pay more than get less. At the current price I expect more meat than I got. Anyway, It was the last straw for me as I’ve decided to look for a new BBQ place.
I had three different sandwhiches, Chopped beef, chopped pork and brisket. The chopped beef and pork seemed like it may have come out of a can and it felt like I was eating dog food. They serve these sandwiches with the BBQ on it and it is a lot of it. The brisket wasn’t bad but I It was a bit gristly. The atmosphere and service is good but what good is that without good food.
Terrible. Just had lunch here and it was awful! The brisket was dry, smelled old and did not even taste like brisket! The beans were mushy and the slaw was too soupy and sweet. Thought the apple cobbler would make up for the rest of the bad taste but it did not. While it was not awful, it was simply tasteless. None of the food was warm. Will not be returning to this place and would not recommend. It’s a shame because at one time this was the best BBQ in Fort Smith. Guess like so many other things, it has run it’s course.
Worst bbq in Fort Smith. My rack of ribs was so dry and hard and overly cooked , when I complained the mgr said I must have got the ribs set aside for the dogs.. My wife and I said wow really ? Her plate of pork was terrible.. and hard… This is without a doubt the worst bbq in fort smith….. I would be willing to bet ole jerry neals goes elsewhere to eat too….. What a shame
Command Sergeant Major (RET) US Army. My wife and I believe Jerry Neel’s is the best in the ten-county area. The food is consistently great — I personally like the rib dinner with twice-baked potato and baked beans. They cook it just the way I like it! I have eaten bar-b-q ribs in about 30 states and this ranks among the best. The facility is very comfortable and the staff are excellent. I selected Jerry Neel’s for lunch today on the occasion of my 66th birthday! This is the first place our daughter who lives in Iowa wants to visit when she and her family come for a visit.
I love Jerry Neel’s! The pulled pork sandwich and baked beans are my favorites. They are so Delish! Their strawberry shortcake is only available in season and it’s a must have! So good and fresh!
