Awesome burgers! Great atmosphere. Nice and a bit funky! Bartenders and staff don’t push you to drink too much (unlike other places that beg you to have another round every 10 minutes).27 Mar, 2015Hawaiian Burger. Crispy bacon, pineapple, terriaki burger so thick I could barely get my mouth wide enough to devour it!!

Of course this is just a review of my dining experience, not the bar and it’s entertainment as a whole. I went on a Tuesday night (taco Tuesday) with my husband. We had some pork sriracha and a chicken taco, both were excellent. Two tacos are definitely enough for one meal. The tomatoes, lettuce, etc was fresh, the sriracha slaw on the shredded pork taco was killer, and the flavors were all complimentary. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were friendly and knowledgable. I haven’t had any of their other menu items but the tacos are spectacular. I’ll be trying their pizza soon.

Why ruin a good thing!? Maxine’s was once my favorite spot. When I come into town I usually go at least twice. This last cost in April, however, left me dismayed. My draft beer was flat – I did not complain so not sure what they would have done if I did. The food used to be surprisingly amazing. Heck, I would have come here just to eat. But this time the food was average bar food at best. Ugh! I know there is a new owner so they probably made immediate changes. Unfortunately unless they improve, I probably won’t be coming as often. On a positive note, the music venue still seems to be interesting. A plea to the new owners, don’t let a good place like Maxine’s faulted. Get busy and work to make it better. Have some pride, please.

LOVE IT!. This live music venue and restaurant is now a non-smoking bar and kid friendly before 8p.m, kitchen opens at 3p.m. Live shows are still 21 and up due to alcohol sales. They serve authentic Greek, huge yummy pizzas, amazing fresh burgers, the best potato wedges, and now a taco and tequila special on Tuesday. They’re always running a drink special, Sundays is loaded bloody Mary or Maria for $5. They host Foul Play Cabaret the third Friday of every month which is entirely a jaw dropper show, and now a Drag show monthly too. They support local talent, local ingredients, and local festivals. Located on the strip in Historic Downtown Hot Springs, this is truly a step into the past.
