I read through a few of the old reviews. Apparently I would not have liked this place had I visited back then. I will say this in favor of Mickey’s now. Wonderful food, well cooked and smoked just right pulled pork was my choice. The other two plates were the brisket and it too was perfectly cooked, not over smoked or under spiced. The pit master knows his job well, and deserves a big shout out! The sweet young lady who took our orders was so kind. She even said I looked like one of her favorite actors, from road house or maybe Too Wong Fu! Oh well! You have to revisit enjoy a pulled pork sandwich, or the brisket, maybe even a burger. You won’t be disappointed. (:
I’m sorry to hear all the negative reviews here as it is one of the best rib places I’ve been to, beats McLards by a mile plus it’s a nice friendly place and my friend and I drive from out past the airport to eat there.
Susie. If you want some bad bar be q in a dirty greasy place, then Mickeys is the place for you. The sauce bottles must be al least as old as the restaurant and when you try to squeeze sauce from them they almost come out of your hand. Place is dirty and dingy.
Not Even Also-Ran As Top Rib Place. In the past I have enjoyed Mickey’s BBQ, but today’s ribs were a distinct disappointment: too dry and tough and little smoke flavor. BBQ beans were so-so, and corn-on-cob was edible, which is the best I can say about it. Not a very enjoyable experience, Mickey’s ribs in my great rib-off of Garland County bbq is in the lower tier.
Bun was dry, the meat tasted gamie, and the consistency of the meat was similar to baby food from the jar. Horrible!
I really wanted to like this place but the meat was old and possibly rotten. Slaw wasn’t much better. The Sprite was the only good part of the meal. The staff was very nice though.
Great little place!. What’s not to like? Hand-carved meats, a great sweet & sour sauce, low prices and frendly people, all in an authentic roadside BBQ joint.I’ve had the sliced meat roast beef sandwich and the sliced ham sandiwch. Altough the portion was fine, I still wanted more at the end. so that’s a good thing. They’re located at Highway 7 & Gulpha Gorge on the eastern side of downtown.
