Upon seeing the solid grey door, I wasn’t sure what to expect from mine and my fiance’s spontaneous trip to Kandela’s. We were seated promptly, and our waitor, an enthusiastic albeit appropriately reserved young man, gave us ample time and kept my sweet tea at a nurseable level. The food I ordered, the enchiladas aztecas, left me full and scratched my Mexican food itch. The overall mood of the restaurant is that of a proud Spanish opera, as opposed to your run-of-the-mill mariachi tune. We will most definitely be back.
The service was slow, waiter was not overly friendly, and the food was adequate but way overpriced! There are better places in Jonesboro for Mexican food. We ate here once, and while not disappointed with our dinner… It wasn’t spectacular either.
Horrible service!. The server was not attentive whatsoever. He would often walk by and not even acknowledge us, even when I had an empty drink on the side of the table for almost 10 minutes and this happened twice. When he finally approached our table appearing very irritable, he finally took our order. I will not be returning because of his lack of customer service and overall demeanor.
Very good & Different!. We are from out of town and asked our hotel associate where a good place to eat & she highly recommended Kendelas. We were impressed with the service &quick response to our party of 10! It was very affordable and all were pleased with their meal! Thank you for something different!
If you go out of your comfort zone it is amazing!!. The first time I went to Kandela I had what I get at every other mexican restaurant so I wasn’t impressed when It tasted like all other mexican restaurants. THEN I had the grilled cactus dish the next time I visited, the nopalete, and it blew my socks off. Really phenomenal. The next time, I tried the molcajete, a large stone bowl with different tender meats with a grilled leek and pineapple garnish. It was so different and really really phenomenal. I see a lot of posts saying the food was bland or just like every other mexican restaurant but here’s the thing: If you always do what you always did, you’ll always get what you always got. And you won’t be impressed. I stepped out of my food comfort zone and got some incredible incredible food with unique flavors. It’s surprisingly inexpensive with MASSIVE portions, excellent drinks, friendly service, and what seems like an endless menu selection. Step out of your comfort zone, try something bizarre and new, and you will ADORE Kandela.

Great food especially the chicken,shrimp and steak ranchero. One of the waitresses had bad service. But overall it was real good. Best in Jonesboro.
