It has been a couple of years since I have been to Doe’s. You have to ignore the looks of the building and the neighborhood or you might keep on driving. Inside it has the Doe’s look, wore out and tired. But the food will keep you coming back. I started with a soaked salad that was very good. Then we had tamales for an appetizer and I don’t think they get any better than Doe’s. Served with a bowl of chili is terrific. Then we had the cheeseburger which was very good, a chili dog that was enormous and very good and a steak that was excellent. Prices are not bad either. Close your eyes and go in and enjoy the food.

We selected the t-bone only b/c they were out of the smaller version of their famous porterhouse, which was an acute disappointment. Great fries were a plus, soggy marinated salad a minus. The beautiful young lady waiting on us was cheerful & timely. The divish setting is authentic enough, but so is the neighborhood on the wrong side of downtown.
