Service is always prompt and attentive. We had a new server on our most recent visit and it still felt like we were part the family. I live for there soup of the day, it’s has never once failed me.
Good service. I had the Philly cheesesteak and jalepeno chips and was pleasantly surprised by the taste. Good bread and great ratio of ingredients. The homemade chips were delicious as well.
Just Passing Through. Easy to get to from Interstate Hotel. Plenty of street parking, free after 6! Reminds me Austin 30 years ago. Very nice waitperson. Everyone seems to know each other.
Where’s the meat???. I have been to EJ’s 3 times for lunch and doubt I will return. The service is great, but the sandwiches are embarrassingly skimpy on the meat. The last roast beef sandwich I was served had a single, thin slice of beef folded over so it looked like two slices. It was awful. I went back two more times to give them a fair shot and unfortunately the skimpy sandwich wasn’t a fluke. The homemade chips were interesting, but certainly not good enough to make up for the sandwich. If you’re downtown and want a good sandwich at the lunch hour, go to Dave’s Place instead.
Uhhum.. I go there for the great service.
Best pork sandwich in town. I’ve been eating at EJs since they were still over in hillcrest. I love their pork sandwich, it is a monster of a hoagie. The homemade chips are always perfectly seasoned. I find the location downtown a bit difficult to pop in to for lunch, and so for me it’s usually a special treat or serious hangover cure.
Great food! We find the service to be super. One of my 10 year olds favorites but adults are happy too!
