  The atmospherics and clientele provide much potential for P&K while quality of food and service failed miserably. I first visited when a date took me there in June and the experience was rather nice on that particular evening – the food, cocktails and service. However, last night was a grave disappointment both for service at the bar and quality of food. I am referring both to promptness and attitude re: service.Last night a friend and I stopped in and visited the bar for drinks and to get a bite for dinner. This is the first bar I’ve ever sat at where there are 4 people available and no one seemed interested in getting us started with a drink. Bars usually want to get your first drink started sooner rather than later, because that means subsequent drinks follow sooner, which means that total drinks purchased might increase….?It was end of week on a Friday evening, and we both were tired from work, family stuff, etc., and anticipating relaxing and having some fun. When no one ever approached us to take a drink order after 10 minutes, again with plenty of bar service around, my friend made a comment about whether it is possible to get someone’s attention to order. That seemed to offend the heavily tattooed millennial bartender (not being derogatory – description provided only to identify the individual), so he procrastinated when filling any request or order and ignoring us for the remainder of the evening as much as possible. He did so by moseying over when we flagged him down, taking an order, then going to someone else and taking their order, and then making their drinks first. OR, he never filled the drink order and we would flag someone else down for a second request and they would fill the order. So, I made the choice to avoid ordering more drinks until we left to go elsewhere.Food is rather pricey given the quality. I am a foodie who advocates for quality over quantity and I am happy to pay for wonderful dining experiences. However, last night’s trout special with the three-tiered salad did not provide the expected value. The fish was cooked decently, but nothing special that I can’t do at home. The three tiers did not integrate well at all for the palate. Rather, it was a messy and unattractive agglomeration. Also, we were told that the top layer was spinach, but it actually was kale.The decor and fun patrons are the best contributions that P&K currently offer. So, was the bad service sexim in practice? Our waitperson was so helpful and responsive when I first visited on a date back in June. Is that because a man was paying? Well, to make sure expectations were met, I acted accordingly with my tip – zero. FYI, thank you to Paul in-training at the bar! He was more helpful and friendly than anyone.
