THe curried chicken salad is one of those items I keep coming back for time and again. It’s almost exactly like the sort that use to be brought to our Sunday church potlucks – and heaven help me, I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the lady who brought those little finger sandwiches all those years ago. Can’t remember her but I can remember this great concoction, served on local buns with a nice side salad, a great little refreshiing lunch that gets me all nostalgic-like… tiedyetravels.com
Nothing but excellence being served here! I only had room to try the pancake, biscuits and gravy, sausage and egg, but everything was perfection! The digs are a throwback to what would be a hip, eclectic 50’s era, the people were super nice and I even took four chocolate chip cookies home. The baked goods are on spot with all the breakfast offerings! The line was out the door 15 minutes before opening on a Sunday. I will be back as many times as possible, because it is quite simply the best breakfast I have had in quite some time. The freshness of all the local, natural ingredients is the difference maker. Sweet eggs, super fluffy and flavorful pancake/syrup and by far the best biscuits and gravy anywhere.Well done Root Cafe!
Food was wonderful. Do not be in a hurry though if you plan on visiting The Root. It will take a while. The line to order and then a long wait for the food. The food will make it worth it though if you can swing it.The whole local sourced farm to table trend is showcased by places like this and they do it well.It is just a cool organic hipster joint, but it is a organic hipster joint with a killer cheeseburger and fries.I’ll be back.
Farm to table restaurants are becoming more popular all the time. Finding a balance between the importance of sourcing locally and finding a flavorful meal is key. These guys do a great job. Ive eaten here a half dozen times. The Good- a great variety for breakfast. if you want something light or something more savory they’ve got some good options. The Bad- not enough seating, growing pains that come with being a bomb brunch joint.
Sweet potato fries are amazing! Food and service was wonderful. Would not go with a large group as seating is limited. The line was long but for a good reason, but it went quickly.
My favorite Sunday breakfast spot. And by breakfast I mean all day Sunday day so don’t come for their burger on a Sunday. But by far the freshest best breakfast you can find with an excellent selections of drinks from local brews to a fine hand squeezed orange juice. I always love the specials they have. Gotta try gravy mountain if it’s up on the board for sure. And don’t complain about the line… This isn’t McDonald’s, not fast food so suck it up and wait for your very good food.
I really like this place. I went out on the edge and tried a omelette with ham. I’m not a huge omelet fan. This was by far the best I’ve ever had. It was so hearty and full of goodness that it would cause me to rethink prior opinions on omelets. The place has a unique, cool vibe. I really wish my hometown of Saint Louis had something like this. It would be a big hit.
