A scratch kitchen! How often do you find a restaurant that can make that claim? And, why did it take us so long to hear about it? We had friends from Fort Smith who were curious about what was happening in downtown North Little Rock so we stumbled on Skinny J’s. Sitting at our table looking out at the downtown area with it’s Historic buildings hanging flowerpots through the neon lights reflecting off the windows it was hard for me to believe this wasn’t New Orleans. It has that flavor. The ambience ofa place you’ve read about in novels. This is where journalist, artist and professionals hang out to have a drink and eat some of the best food in the city. Can’t believe that our dull drab city of North Little Rock is developing such an inviting downtown! The food is wonderful. Our server recommended loaded chicken and it was wonderful. As was the crawfish dip appetizer and the chocolate brownie dessert. Our guest is a great fan of reuben sandwiches and he found Skinny J’s version delicious. My husband says he’ll be back early and often for the fried green tomato sandwich.We didn’t get to the steaks yet. Another time…Highly recommended.
The oysters are fantastic, if you are lucky enough to dine when they are in stock. Ambiance is casual but nice…great place for a drink or a meal. They usually have some great drink specials / fire sales throughout the week and weekend. I have ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna Salad almost everytime it is so delicious. Fresh seafood and reasonable prices make this our Argenta go-to spot.
Excellent. From the get go everybody was very nice service wise. My wife has a peanut allergy and the manager came over and assured us whatever we ordered was safe and made from scratch. A great addition to Argenta will be back for sure!
We had a great time at Skinny J’s. I had the bleu cheese filet and it was cooked perfect and full of flavor. One of my friends had the juicy j burger that she said was great. Service was very attentive and a great craft brew selection
Wonderful atmosphere, great waitstaff, and excellent food! Definitely get the crawfish dip! I could have licked the bowl, it was so good! Also had the ribeye steak with Cajun butter. Cooked perfectly with a great sear! We will definitely go back!
A new restaurant in downtown NLR is welcomed and a great addition. A nice clean, open and fun environment will welcome you in. The drink menu is confusing as it has no explanation of the contents and the waitress didn’t know either but I tried the Dapper Apple and the Cocked and Loaded andBoth were very good. The crab cakes were average, had a nice bite to them. The cheeseburger was a bit over cooked but the homemade chips were excellent. The black and blue salad was very good but the steak was a little chewey. The key lime cheese cake was pretty good. A good experience.
I’ve had the reuben Egg rolls, Northeast quesadilla and Old Flame burger….All were excellent. And the service was too. Will return! BTW, this restaurant is in NORTH Little Rock, not Little Rock, and it’s in AR. not AK. ?????P.S.-Today (8/24/15) I was told that Skinny J’s has dropped all quesadillas, all wraps and all desserts from their menu.
