(3.5) Major props to them for being family owned and run for 74 years! Its that great family diner atmosphere that still packs the place and will get us to return. Our server was great thou she was running to keep up with the Sunday lunch crowd. Neals calling card is pan fried chicken. After all they are in Springdale and even have Tyson logos on the menu. So I was a bit shocked that the chicken pieces were on the small side and the breast was split, hopefully just to promote quicker cooking. The batter lacked in flavor and the chicken didnt seem to be marinated thou juicy. The vegetables were thankfully not over cooked but again lacked seasoning. The fried okra was the best of the sides, the frozen crinkle cut fries the most disappointing. The pies looked great, we will return to try those. Meeting a member of the Neal family on the way out was nice, I hope they look at the recipes for the future as a new generation and people from all over the map flood into Springdale that will undoubtedly be looking to more flavorful profiles and locally sourced vegetables.
Been going here for years and have never left a review. The service is always wonderful and polite. The food is excellent if you’re looking for down home country food. Best chicken livers around. Sweet tea is always perfection.
PLEASE DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY. This place used to be so good. Now nothing under $11, and it’s terrible. Very small portions. Cold small chicken with no flavor, plain green beans no flavor, cold mashed potatoes that taste like instant potatoes. Even the soft drink was terrible…flat. Once they drop you food off you don’t see the waitress again. They stand in the corner and talk with each other. Had to get up and get more flat soda.
