Not so hot!. I have been going to Sunset Grill for years, but the restaurant has progressively gotten worse over the past year. I went breakfast on Saturday morning and this was the last visit I will be making to the establishment. The food was mediocre at best. The homefries were greasy and tasteless. The only perk was at least this time the food was warm. Our waitress, who just so happens to be the manager, refused to come to our table. Our table was in the middle of her section and yet she did not come to our table one time. She relied on other servers to take our orders and bring us our food. If her section would have been full I could have understood, but her section was not full, like the other sections. Obviously she did not get a tip, but we did tip the server who did the majority of Chris’s work. I won’t be back and will relay my experience to others.
No longer afraid of Pot Roast. I heard about this place from a few people around town so I decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised.Food: I was hesitant to try the Friday special, Pot Roast, due to usually getting hard meat without salt at several places chain places. This Pot Roast however was GREAT: soft, coming apart on your fork, seasoned meat and gravy that wasn’t bland. Homemade taste. Will definitely be back next Friday. Faith has been restored.Service: Very attentive for how moderately crowded it was, I barely went without my drink and dishes were cleared off rather fast.
My family has eaten here 3 times now for breakfast. The first two times we were pretty impressed for the most part, but this last time left a bitter taste in my mouth. I got 4 pancakes and a loaded hash to go. When they ring it up after the food was ready it seemed like a lot. I saw the ticket and they had charged $3.95 per pancake. I opened the menu and looked and it says $3.95 for 1, $4.95 for two and $4.95 for three. So I asked why I was charged $3.95 each? The lady who is the manager replies that I have to specifically ask for the three pancake deal and then an extra pancake to get that pricing otherwise they will just ring it up as four separate pancakes. What??I have never seen a place do that. I have to ask for the discounted price?? Seriously? Then after I get home I realized they forgot to give me the biscuits and gravy the hash is supposed to come with. Not a good visit. Food however is very good and pancakes are huge? $3.95 huge? Not sure about that. Probably costs .50 cents to make that pancake if that.
