I had been craving Burmese Food last week and since I was in the vicinity, I decided to grab dinner at Burma Superstar with my husband a couple friends.I had called in advance to reserve a table but they said that they do not take any reservations. Although they did ask me to call back half an hour in advance before I reached so that they could put my name on the waiting list and I wouldn’t have to wait much. But since it was a Friday night, even half an hour in advance didn’t really cut it for us. After reaching we had to wait at least for another 45 minutes. Thankfully it wasn’t raining so waiting outside wasn’t an issue.Tip – Call at least 45 minutes in advance to put your name on the waiting list on a Friday night. When we were seated, our server quickly ran us through the menu and took our order. Since the bar was overcrowded, our appetizers came before our drinks. But we were so hungry that it didn’t really matter. The food was really good thought. The famous TEA LEAF SALAD lived up to its reputation and was so good that we called for a second round. The BURMESE SAMUSAS were also delicious with just the right amount of flavorful filling. When the cocktails finally arrived they were worth the wait. Out of some of the cocktails that we tried, the RANGOON MULE and HIBISCUS FIZZ stood out for me.Even for our main course order, the curries came a few minutes before the rice and noodles which was slightly disappointing. Having said that, the food was pretty good. I’d highly recommend the FIERY VEGETABLES WITH TOFU if you’re up for some spice. The prices are slightly on the steeper side but the food makes up for it.On the whole, it’s worth a visit but the service definitely needs to be better managed on busy days.

Hands down the best restaurant in SF. The samosa soup is amazing and I find myself craving the firey chicken and tofu all the time. Prices have unfortunately increased over the years, but the food is well worth it.

By far, Burma Superstar is one of the best (in my top ten) restaurants. Their food is on par with very fancy and expensive restaraunts. It’s no wonder they were featured on the food network! My friend and I had the Burmese Tea Salad (sooo good) and salmon and a spicy noodles with chicken dish (similar to Pad Thai). 5 stars out of 5!
