Really good food but bad service. The food is really good. I went to the restaurant few days ago with my wife. We really enjoy the food but the service is very bad. One of the servers treat us very rude. It is a shame because the food is exquisite.

Wandering Palate. This is the first time that I have been back since they re-opened. The remodel is very attractive. I ordered the Famous Five Spice Hot and Spicy Pork Shoulder which is of one the Chef’s Signature dishes. By way of background, I was born in S.F. to parents raised in Canton, China. I grew up eating really good Chinese food made for Chinese people. This pork shoulder was outstanding. Perfectly spiced and braised. It was a huge serving and I took it home. The classic dry cooked green beans were well prepared, but the beans were not fresh and a bit stringy. The server was efficient, but not solicitous, typical of Chinese restaurants. In conclusion, this is a place to go for excellent authentic Chinese food, cooked to perfection, probably the best in the East Bay. The ambience is much improved. The service remains a minus.

Phony Outdated Prices on Menus. This restaurant has old menus posted outside the entrance and a stack of carry-out menus on the cashier’s counter. They have never been updated to show the restaurant’s now much-higher prices (at least $1 or $2 more for each dish). I complained to the cashier about this several months ago yet the restaurant has done nothing to correct what amounts to their false advertising. Besides this, I have repeatedly found the food and service to be mediocre at best. The staff is rude and obnoxious. There are several much better Chinese restaurants nearby further up Solano Avenue & on San Pablo Ave.

Good enough to go again. Not the best I’ve had, but pretty tasty and fresh. Note: White rice does NOT come with your dish automatically. If you want rice, you must order it seperately!

IMHO China Village is the best Chinese restaurant in the Berkeley-Albany-El Cerrito-Richmond area. The food is fabulous, and one of my fav dishes is the soup with tofu and spinach. Sounds simple but it’s very flavorful. The service is very good and the owners are friendly…always very grateful for your business.

Was once boo is now a WOO HOO!. This is now my favorite Chinese restaurant in Albany. It use to shell out terrible food but has now has switched owners, and probably chefs, and delivers masterpieces! Everything is tasty, and large portions are always served! I HIGHLY recommend the Princess Prawns and Mongolian Beef! I would however suggest you skip appetizers only because your main courses will be served prior.
