Lots of History. Shoestring was originally owned by Dick Siegel, From 1959 to 1989. Dick Siegel was the cousin of Hugo Siegel who owned Hugo’s Hot Dogs In Van Nuys. Hugo Siegel was the inspiration to Richard Walsh who opened Cupid’s Hot Dogs who now is a Franchise with several locations throughout the San Fernando Valley. Dick Siegel’s Family relocated the Shoestring famous Hot Dogs Since 1959 to Northern California a small town called Placerville. This location has all the original food sold in original location. Most famous for their chili dog.
