While visiting in Norwalk, our hostess deemed it a necessity take us to Moo BBQ in neighbouring Artesia, a favourite of hers and several groups of ladies with whom she meets. We went on Saturday evening and it was the busiest she’s ever seen it. There were parties in progress in separate rooms, and we had to wait hour for a table, but it was worth it. Flat rate ($22) for all-you-can-eat buffet with a 10% discount for seniors and students. The buffet has a very generous selection including soupsfirst time ever for seaweed soup and I loved it, salads, cold dishes, hot dishes, and sushi, but the pice-de-rsistance of a Korean BBQ is the meat. You start by ordering three selections from a list of over 20. The selections are delivered raw, and you cook them over a gas grill recessed into the middle of your table (see photos). Once you’ve eaten those, you may order 3 more, etc., etc. If you request, or if staff observes a cooking surface to be messy, it will be deftly slipped out and a clean replacement dropped in. The table is equipped with a pair of tongs and shears for cutting the food, and each person is given two dips, one of soy and one of sesame oil. The grilled mushrooms (see photo) are delicious dipped in the latter.Polish off the meal with a selection of fruit and jelly from the buffet, or soft ice cream that you dispense yourself from the machine, or order skewers of marshmallows (last item on the grill list). The server will remove the grate so that you can reach your marshmallow down next to the flame. Your can pretend that you are roasting marshmallows at summer camp, during which time all past and deceased fire marshalls spin in their graves.Service is excellent. Although one server is assigned to your table, it seems that all staff whisk your empty dishes away, refill your water glass, relay re-orders for additional food, and generally look after all customers in sight.
Love their BBQ! I ate ALL of my food. There are TVs hanged on its walls. Also, the have a cute little Christmas Tree sitting right at the door. It’s in LA, but I wish there’s on in San Diego.
