After living in San Antonio for over 1.5 years, whenever I see a Gujarati restaurant I glow up like a Christmas tree; such is the need of authentic Gujarati eating out places in cities like San Antonio Being a staunch Gujarati and a fan of Surat; there was no doubt about trying Surati Farsan Mart. As soon as you step in, the time travel to Gujarat begins. An elegant display of sweets and namkins truly reminds of any sweet shop in India. I didn’t get a chance to try any of the namkins, as I was fixated on ras malai, jalebi and gulab jamun. Without questioning even once, I tried all of it. Certainly the best ones I’ve had in the US. You don’t want to miss the jalebi and ras malai for sure.Coming to the snacks, they have some unique options like chutney quesadilla; however I stuck to the basic and ordered chole bhature and mysore masala dosa. Chole bhature had a taste as close it can get to the ones you’d eat in India. It’s a must visit!!!!Food:4/5Ambience:3.5/5
This was our first time trying these kinds of food and as meat lovers, the food here was surprisingly delicious. The portion was big as well. We ordered the sev puri, pani puri, Pav Bhaji (all recommendation from yelp), and Delhi chaat ( cashier recommendation). I was not looking for dessert foods so I really liked the Pav Bhaji (LOOKs like chili sandwich) and sec puri. The pan puri and Delhi chaat (taste like corn flakes with yogurt, sour cream & spices) are too sweet for me. Like I said I didn’t feel like dessert. Maybe of I did, I would’ve like latter better. The Delhi chaat was famous there the cashier said so i tried it. If I ever go back, I want to try the Chole Samosa (our neighbor ordered that) coz it looks good. Everything was cheap. We got four items for $16. We eat a lot and it got us full so that’s awesome.
Busiest place in Artesia.. Seriously, I have no idea what time you have to get here to get a table. They are always busy, but I love it. They have the best snacks they sell by the pound, and everything they have to offer is displayed on the flatscreens hanging on the wall. Dont come here if you dont like crowds, waiting a while, or people invading your personal space. I highly recommend braving the crowds because the food is -fantastic-. Totally worth it. Not too expensive, either.
