This was my first visit — there is both outside and inside dining — with nice spacing between tables. We had a booth which was perfect for conversation. Lots of good menu choices — including some nice wine options — and the servings are on the large side. I had a burger — very good but nothing special — and my son had a kale salad which looked very appealing. The Buffalo wings were the star of the show!
Spacious and well laid out, this gastropub is perfect for having a few drinks and dinner both. We had a great waiter who suggested some vodka cocktails which were amazing. Again, the burger and salad were equally good and fresh. Dessert was disappointing.
On a warm and humid Saturday night we were surprised the snapper ceviche made with cauliflower, avocado, red onion and corn was served with packaged Zesta saltine crackers. It was light and refreshing. We enjoyed it with two of their craft cocktails. The Hannibal’s Plan is made with Blanco tequila, fresh watermelon juice, hibiscus, and lemon. The rim is enhanced with sea salt. That rim is fiery on your lips. The Thermopylae is gin based with honey, Chareau and lime. Our server Meesh was excellent. She told us that the bar gives two once pours, instead on one ounce or one in a half ounce pours. They serve a plethora of Shaken, Stirred, craft beers on tap, wine, Fizzy Things, Barreled Aged cocktails and spirit flights. This is the place to dine and ride during the Greek Theater season. Messhall serves a three course dinner with a salad, entree and dessert, plus parking at Messhall with a shuttle taking guests up to the theater and back for under $60.One of the most unique dishes is the vegan cauliflower that looks like orange chicken. It’s served with a large scoop of white rice and big florets of broccoli. It’s heavenly! We also liked the fried chicken with sliced pickles. It’s served with a thick watermelon and crumbled goat cheese salad. The beef short ribs with mashed potatoes, kale, bacon and mushrooms. The Brussels Sprouts are slightly sweet and very spicy. For dessert we had the banana cream pie in a mason jar. It was like a banana budino and served with sliced caramelized bananas and little shortbread cookies. A delightful ending to a wonderful meal. dineandtravel.wordpress.com
Great food, Great Service.. I’m a big fan of this place. The food is proper American comfort food fayre – ribs, steaks, burgers etc. The steak was superb, the baby back ribs are a mission for one person to finish. Great value for money too, main courses are all $15-$30 approximately. It’s a great venue with excellent service. Although it was busy the waiting staff were more than happy to accommodate a couple of prams and move our table which may have been a problem in other restaurants on a Friday evening.I look forward to returning next time I’m in LA.
Nice Casual Place. Enjoyed a dinner there with the family on a Saturday night. I liked the food (mac and cheese appetizer and a pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries). There could have been a few more menu items, I think, but it was good. They also have an oyster bar, but oyster is not really my favorite. It’s close to the Observatory if looking for dinner after a visit. About $100.00 for four of us.
Its a MESS. VERY DISAPPOINTED!Thought it would be fun to do something different and hip for a Sunday afternoon..Reviews are somewhere on the Internet as raving positive for this place’s the heck..lets go have some fun!!Sign outside says…sunday brunch til 3 PM. it was 2:20 when we parked our car…so..yes…we were ready to fill up! Turns out..it was super bowl sunday, and they shut the kitchen down at two thirty, it was two minutes past two thirty..so we couldn’t have brunch.the waitress told us…that the kitchen would not be ready for another half hour, so…we figured…there will be crackers and drinks while we are waiting. NOPE!! nothing!! Had to get up and ask for something to munch on, because I could feel my sugar dropping..and no..I am not a diabetic I was Hungarians didn’t plan on sitting at the table for half an hour with nothing in front of us.So…we asked for crackers or bread..there was nothing available. They offered us french fries.I thought…well…order shimp..surely all they have to do is take that out of the fridge..NOPE!! it didn’t show up for another half hour. The waitress seemed to be upset with me, good grief…the bill came to sixty dollars for a late lunch.I have finally figured out what yuppie means…it means youngsters, in the twenty something age range, that are only concerned about themselves, as opposed to the job they were hired to do. Very Sad outcome for the owner..whoever they are….and like someone else said in their review..we hope the owner is reading the customer reviews
Nice addition to Los Feliz. Big fan of this place. Cool ambiance with a nice crowd. It was really busy when we went, the wait was 45 min but we wanted to try the bar first anyway. Drinks were really well done and our bartender was great to chat booze with. She was very pleasant considering how busy she was. Food was delicious, service was thoughtful. Everyone we interacted with, the hostess, bar tender, server, were very kind and which was a nice surprise.
