Awful Experience/Good Food. The Black Cat does not take reservations. I went with a party of 6 on a Saturday night at 8pm expecting to wait. When we arrived, we were informed that we should be seated in 45 minutes. We waited for 1.5 excruciating hours before we sat down. After sitting, we waited another 10 minutes before a waiter came over. The one good part of our experience was the food which came out relatively quickly and was good . . . totally solid. (I’d heard the chef was the former chef from Lou, which I love.) Our experience at The Black Cat was appropriately capped off when a bus boy knocked over a full glass of water while clearing dishes, sending water cascading all over the table and into our laps. In closing, I’ll say that I recommend checking out The Black Cat only during non-peak times. This is a new restaurant and the front of house is still a hot mess. I hope they get it together over time, but for now, I’d keep it to brunch, lunch, and early dinners.
