Best Mexican Food in Town. I recently took a job in Bakersfield and having grown up in Imperial Valley right next door to Mexicali, Mexico I was hoping that I would be able to find Mexican food as good I was used to. So when a friend from work took me there as it is a place that he said he could, literally, eat at every day of the week, I thought well here goes nothing. He recommended the Monday lunch special of a chile verde burrito plate that included rice, beans and drink and he recommended that I order it ‘wet’ (smothered in chili verde sauce). Holy ham hocks, Batman! That was some of the best chili verde I have ever eaten!!! The beans are homemade and fantastic but the rice was by far the best Mexican rice I have ever eaten. As the first reviewer indicates, the rice can be eaten by itself but don’t: have them smother it chili verde sauce and you will be in heaven!!!
