Significant Price Increase. I drop by F&S a couple times a month for a couple of lamb plates to go. The quality is still good but our dinners are now at least 40% higher. Our visits will probably be just once a month now.
BEST HUMMUS in TOWN!. Tucked into a plaza along with Starbucks and a few other restaurants, this restaurant has the best hummus I have ever tasted. My daughter hooked me up with Flame & Skewer. My only complaint is that I can’t get shaved lamb (which is so much better), instead of chunks of lamb. Their plate of lamb, rice, hummus, and a boring little salad, is about $10. I usually just try to get hummus and pita. You can get it to go.
The best thing about this restaurant is that I can take the family here and everybody has a favorite item on the menu: my husband and daughter like the shawerma, while my son and I like the kabobs. The sides are delicious and plentiful, which means we can sometimes share and nobody leaves hungry! My favorite part of eating here is knowing the kabobs are grilled fresh and the offerings are different but far healthier than typical fare.
Overall good. Good for a fast food place. The portions are huge so I recommend sharing with someone. Overall I would recommend the chicken kebab
The Best Mediterranean Food in Bakersfield. Flame & Skewers consistently delivers the best Mediterranean food in Bakersfield. That alone would make it a definite go-to restaurant, but add to it the fact of reasonable prices and you have a permanent on the list of regular-eat-at places. The staff is knowledgeable and readily helps a newbie when they are not sure what to order. They will smilingly explain the various dishes and help by making suggestions. When I am craving stuffed grape leaves (dolmades) Flames and Skewers is always my first choice! If I am craving Starbucks along with my hummus, the location right there off the 178 on 24th, next to one of the finer Starbucks in the city, makes it worth even driving out of my way.
Good Food. My favorite place for lunch. I usually call ahead to order the combination plate.
