Service is no good…… The first time I went to Loonies for lunch, they couldn’t manage to make my burger in less than 45 minutes and I had to carry it out and didn’t get to eat it until an hour later after my meeting. It wasn’t even that busy at the restaurant. That’s bad service. The second time I went I sat at the bar and had a simple appetizer and beer. Still took forever. The third and fourth….just beer. I haven’t built up the courage or banked the time to try and order a real meal at this place….maybe someday. The Lobotomy Bock is one of my favorite beers though 😉
I used to really like Gooses. The service has gone to hell. The place isn’t as clean as it was. The food is still good but they are cutting corners and it shows.
Food vs. Service. The food is very good, at least the dishes I have tried. Everything is to temperature and at least seems fresh. They have a competitive beer selection compared to the majority of Bakersfield restaurants. If you can put up with incompetent staff (such as ordering a drink first and not receiving it until the appetizer arrives) visit this place for good food and beer. Beware of the appetizer pricing for happy hour, only select dishes are half off.
Go somewhere else. Fish and Chips were horrible. All I could taste was grease. Sent it back and left.
I love the food and the atmosphere but service is terrible. We waited close to an hour for our food.
The food is good, frosty mondo beers even better. Try any of their wings, my fav is the honey garlic.
Goose Loonies Moved. This used to be a favorite downtown hangout for quite a while when they were located at 19th and H streets. The new place is even better than the last. The owners did a great job of creating a clean friendly sports bar atmosphere. They have a full bar, but there is a large variety of beer to choose from. To try an unusual beer combination, be sure to try the Lambic beer mixed with the Guiness Stout.They still serve Greek food, but like the atmosphere, it is even better than ever. I am very impressed with the improvements that the owners have made at the new location.
