Yum! I love it and the cake. Who cares if a Texan doesn’t find it Texan enough, it’s yummy!!!
Jakes is one of my favorite local restaurants. Their food always tastes fresh and their staff is always really nice. I love the nachos with chicken and those cheesy potatoes are so good. I can’t afford to go as much as I would like to but their prices are not that high considering how big their portions are. Oh and I love the cake. I usually put it in the frig for an hour and then eat it with some milk. Super yummy!
The only thing this place has going for it is the cake… and it’s not even close to Sweet Surrender
Good honest food. Crowded, people seem to be willing to stand in line!
Come with an open mind and big apatite. I’d call it more Mex-Tex than the other way around. You won’t find this in the Lone Star State, but don’t let that stop you.
I’m a Texan. This place sucks.. This is Tex-Mex at it’s most boring. They also charge an arm and a leg for something so underwhelming. Oh, and what GENIUS decided that closing up at 8PM was a good idea? No wonder they charge so much – they have to make up for the 2 hours of business they’re missing every night.
Returning . . . ?. I must admit, this food is very tasty. I usually order the tri-tip sandwich without onion spread, mustard and BBQ sauce instead, plus a piece of their famous chocolate cake. However, their prices are too high and a return does not seem likely (except maybe for just a piece of cake). Do I recommend this joint? Certainly. Evaluate the cost as your wallet permits.
