My husband & I visited your Bakersfield California location on Valentines Day. When we came in they said itd be an hour wait, totally fine. They gave us the flashing disk & we went to have a drink at the bar. We were informed that we were welcome to sit at a table in the bar if one came available, that they were first come first served. Great. So we sit at the actual bar, my husband ordered a drink while I looked over the drink menu. A table came open, we checked with the waitress to make sure that it was ok to take the table, she said sure, that it may take a minute for it to be bussed but shed send someone, took our flashy disk thing & walked off. In the meantime time, another couple at the bar asked a different waitress for the same table. She bussed it then & there & they sat down. So now we were left with no table & were presumably no longer on the list. As my husband got up to get put back on the list, the original waitress we had talked to walked by, seemed a little confused, noted it looked like we werent going to be sitting there after all & asked what happened. As I went to explain, the bar tender started talking over me, cut me off mid sentence, said Yeah, youll get the next one snapped his fingers at the waitress & told her focus while trying to tell her about an order he had put in the computer. I am not sure why he thought that it was exceptable be so rude or that somehow what he had to say was more important than what I had to say. Especially because I was not complaining, I was perfectly content having a drink & waiting for another table. I was answering a question that I was asked by someone on staff. Needless to say I was beyond livid. Ive worked in customer service for 10 years, thats an absolutely unexceptable way to treat a customer. It absolutely ruined my night & I left. I live 40 miles away from this restaurant (its the closest one to me). So I drove 40 miles to get talked down to like trash by some rude self absorbed bar tender, leave & go home crying. A dinner out with my husband for Valentines day turned in driving through Sonic & a waste of 2 hours of driving. I called to get his name so that I could make a complaint & talked with a manager who said shed get back to me the next day. Surprise Surprise no one bothered. Im pretty sure that I will not go back to Olive Garden. Clearly not caring about your customers & treating them like crap is exceptable in this companys culture. By the way, my husband did take me for a make up dinner later on. With dinner, drink & the $100 tip we left the waitress, it was $250 that we didnt spend at your restaurant or give your staff. So if youre wondering what your company can do to to boost your bottom line. Start treating your customers like their business matters.
