My favorite Vietnamese place in town. The tofu bok choy soup is a masterpiece in simplicity. You can taste each delicate ingredient. Great place for vegetarians like me.
Wow!!!. We love Saigon Restaurant. The Ho Family runs this fantastic Vietnamese establishment. In LA there are pho noodle shops in every strip mall and on every corner (Many of them are quite good). Of the handful of Vietnamese offerings in Bakersfield, Saigon Restaurant on Chester Lane is the Best!!! The meats are grilled, not fried. The pho broth (Pho is Vietnamese noodle soup for the uninitiated) is delicious and has a depth of flavor that cannot be found in most Vietnamese shops in Bakersfield. For my vegetarian friends, the menu is extensive and varied. We always enjoy the tofu with lemon grass and the vegetarian soup. There are more than 10 vegetarian entrees to choose from. YUM!The lunch menu features several options including Vietnamese sandwiches. The rest of the country is waking up to these terrific sandwiches featuring grilled meats and fresh veg on a hoagie roll. The moderate price of the lunch offerings make Saigon Restaurant a twice a week lunch stop for many of my friends.I would be remiss not to mention the chicken curry. This mild sweet curry is so delicious. Plump morsels of boneless chicken are covered in the Restaurant’s slightly sweet yellow curry sauce. Hand to Heaven, I’ve seen more than one set of eyes roll back in ecstasy over the curry chicken. There’s also a soup version. It should not be missed. If you have never tried Vietnamese food, I’d recommend the chicken pho and any of the dinner combinations. The flavors are mild and not to adventurous in texture. Spring rolls are a MUST if you are comfortable with the texture of the soft rice wrappers.I would always recommend Saigon Restaurant as my first option for casual evening dining in Bakersfield.
The asian rice noodle soup was wonderful and the BBQ beef and egg roll bun was good also! Service was great, very helpful in explaining pho to first timers!
Friendly staff, great food. The best Viennamese food in Bakersfield. Great spring rolls. Vietnamese crepe is delicious. Best pho in town, and nice lunch specials.
You call that fresh?. Sorry, yellow lettuce is not fresh. The lettuce was yellow in the salad and the vermicelli dish. The BBQ shrimp in the vermicelli was overcooked and dry and the curry tasted like it came from a box.
Good authentic food. Everything tastes very fresh. Get the spring rolls!
Good taste. Spring rolls appitizer is recommended. Noodle bowls are very good. Special fried rice is my favorite. Service is very friendly. Family-run restaurant. Probably the best vietnamese restaurant in Bakersfield.
