Happy happy hour. I have enjoyed sushi along our coast. Closer to pacific better chances for quality. Bakersfield will never be famous for their sushi offerings but if you need a reminder of the pleasure of sushi then Kato will fill the bill. To get a balance of good sushi and good prices than visit them at happy hour. The service is pretty good but that can at times depend on the customer. Remember, the Japanese were civilized long before Europeans. All things considered I return to Sushi Kato any chance I can and that means driving down from Kern River Valley. Again it really only makes ‘cents’ for us during happy hour. But when we can anytime is good for us. Be respectful polite and leave a decent tip, they deserve it. Remember who the Star is, he’s behing the bar. Eye contact and a slight bow to show your respect when entering. I recommend Sushi Kato whole heartedly. Have not had any disappointments. We would go daily if practical!

Kato knows his Sushi, service is good, and your’e in and out in 30 minutes if you like. Our favorite is the Red Dragon roll which is the perfect combination of crunchy tempura shrimp inside and delicious red tuna, sweet eel sauce and a spicy jalapeno outside – INCREDIBLE!!

It’s not great.. I ate here once. The sushi chef was nice. I can’t say it was bad. I had a sushi combo with nigiri and a california roll. I don’t remember much about the nigiri, but the california roll was too salty for my taste and the rice was falling apart. basically there are better places in town so I go elsewhere.
Kato is a great sushi chef and the food is awesome! You need to go during happy hour when sushi rolls are half off, 5-6:30pm daily
Love their happy hour specials. Sometimes may take a while with one chef, but always worth the wait. Some of the best prices in town (during happy hour).
