Pass on this place. Its really not even worth the effort to review it, Save yourself some money and eat at another place.
Lackluster At Best. My husband ordered the NY medium it came out WELL and completely flavorless. I ordered the bruchette of Beef which came out E-coli risky rare! The rest of the family style dishes were nothing to write home about. It seems apparent that the restaurant has been resting on its reputation from its past and not on any present flavor. The restaurant smells of old carpet and stinky feet which is off putting the second you walk in the restaurant. I’ve eaten basque food my whole life and I can tell you first hand this isn’t it. You want true Basque food with flavor skip this overhyped hot mess of a restaurant and take a trip over to Gardnerville, NV to the JT and try some good food and an awesome atmosphere. Over all it’s a waste of money and not worth the wait to get in!
The best basque food anywhere!!!!! The shrimp scampi is awesome as are the filets.
This one of Bakersfield’s best. I met my wife at this place and I can say that that woolgrowers changed my life! ( for the better ) Great food
Awesome!. I love Basque food and they pretty much have the best in town. I would be fairly satisfied with eating bread and butter, beans, and salsa the whole time but, when I did eat beef, I would order a steak from here. They know how to cook them perfectly. The fried chicken with garlic is also fantastic and, even though I’m not a huge fan of lamb, I would steal a bite or two from someone else who ordered it.
Basque is served family style: you order your entree, and your table gets bowls of other delicious fare. A Bakersfield legend.
I love the shrimp sacampi and the beans
